Departement du Lot

The Lot department is located in the north of the Midi-Pyrenees, between Aquitaine and the Massif Central. It has an area of 5200 km2 and a population of 173,000 inhabitants, making it one of the least dense departments in France. The largest town, and also capital of the department is Cahors.

The boundaries of the Lot département coincide roughly with those of the old province of Quercy.
